All of our donkeys are Jennies (that is to say they are females). |
Donkeys have a reputation for being stupid and stubborn (stubborn as a mule), but they are in fact very intelligent animals. This intelligence causes them to stop and think before attempting anything different. If you want a donkey to do something it will only do so once they know it is safe. |
Donkeys live for approximately 40 to 50 years. A healthy donkey can normally work into his late 20's. |
Donkeys and horses are measured in 'Hands'. A hand is equal to 4 inches and is the breadth of the average hand. The measurement is taken from the ground up to the withers, which is the highest point of the donkeys shoulder, where the neck meets the back.

The whole group on the beach.

For some reason, our donkeys love to creep up on you have a wheelbarrow full of donkey poo and tip it over. It is one of their favourite tricks. They can't do that with my big wheelbarrow as it has two wheels and is quite stable.

The group. Stumpy & Jasmine at front.

Well, at least, that is what I thought, until one day Jasmine did manage to tip it over, I'm not sure how.

They are an entertaining group and often do things to make us laugh. Unfortunately, they can often make us cross too.
